High School Robotics Competition: The hardest fun you will ever have!
What does it take to build a robot? Try 20 dedicated high school students, a handful of determined mentors, supportive coaches and six weeks of innovation, creativity and collaboration!
Our FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team OpCom challenges high school students to design and build their own fully functional robot with the help of knowledgeable mentors. At the beginning of January teams from all round the world are introduced to the game challenge and game field. They are issued a standard parts kit as well as rules for the game. In the six weeks that follow, the team must build a robot to complete the challenge. We will compete in the Western Canada Regional competition taking place at the Calgary Olympic Oval in April 2014.
High school students from any school can apply to become student engineers on our Community Team. Benefit from working side by side with professional engineers, gaining practical experience in construction, programming, and problem solving. Participation in this project put student’s intellects into action, and provides opportunities to achieve high school credits through evening and weekend project work.
The program fee is $600, which includes transportation and accommodations for the events in Calgary. Students will need to budget for their own food and incidentals.
Financial assistance is also available.
